Toughened glass is the glass that is heated to the softening temperature and then cooled evenly and quickly, so that the glass surface can obtain compressive stress. During the cooling process, the outside of the tempered glass solidifies due to rapid cooling, while the inside cools more slowly. When the internal cooling continues to shrink, the glass surface produces compressive stress, and the internal tensile stress, thus improving the glass strength and heat stability.

1. High intensity

Compared with ordinary glass of the same thickness, toughened glass has 3-5 times higher bending strength and impact strength. When ordinary glass is bending under load, the upper surface surface is subjected to compressive stress, the lower surface surface is subjected to tensile pressure, the tensile strength of glass is low, and the tensile strength of ordinary glass will break, so the strength of ordinary glass is very low, and tempered glass under load, the larger tensile stress is not located on the surface of glass like ordinary glass, but in the center of the tempered glass plate, So toughened glass will not break under the same load.

2. Safety

Toughened glass produces compressive stress through quenching, thus improving the strength of the glass, so the glass is not easy to break when impacted. Even when the load is broken, the fragments are small and obtuse, and will hardly cause harm to the human body. Ordinary glass broken into sharp pieces, easy to cause serious injury to the human body.

3. Shock resistance

Toughened glass has relatively high resistance to heat impact, and compared with ordinary glass of the same thickness, the resistance to heat impact strength is 3 times higher. Tempered glass can withstand the temperature change range of 220℃-250℃, while ordinary glass is only 70℃-100℃. When tempered glass is subjected to a certain quench temperature, the direction of compressive stress and tensile stress on the surface is opposite and cancelling each other out. When the heat is urgent, the upper surface produces pressure. Because the compressive stress of glass is 10 times the tensile stress, the tempered glass can also withstand a certain urgent heat temperature. Because toughened glass can resist a certain temperature mutation, it can play a short fire protection role in the event of fire.
